LAKE EILDON & SURROUNDS

Half Day includes travel time

Destinations may include: Eildon > Macs Cove > Goughs Bay > Howqua Inlet > Piries > Bonnie Doon

Tour the great Lake Eildon waterways. Walk along the lake's edge with access from one or more local inlets, taking in the 'serenity'. You can also experience the Great Victorian Rail Trail at Bonnie Doon.

 

Stop in at a reserve for a designated bush walk and/or enjoy a picnic or BBQ lunch (facilities available).

Your guide will share interesting information regarding the history of the Eildon Weir.

Set amongst seven State forests, discover the renowned rivers and creeks of this region including the Goulburn River, Jamieson River, Running Creek and more. All are easily accessible with clearly defined walking tracks.

Stop in at a creek or river for a designated bush walk and/or enjoy a picnic or BBQ lunch (facilities available).

Your guide will share interesting information including the areas history of gold mining, logging, farming and bushrangers. Pause at a designated lookout or on a riverbank to reflect on the challenges faced by early settlers.

A day tour to explore this often forgotten part of the world. It is an area full of native animals, with incredible scenery. There are seasonal waterfalls (lots of water when it rains, totally dry when its wet!) and historical features.

 

Drive along a dirt track, with walks to two stunning waterfalls and a wonderful lookout point with views over the Mansfield area.

Enjoy abundant opportunities to view native wildlife along the way including wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas and more, in their natural habitat. Savor the aromas of the bush and take in the towering gums and connect with nature, leaving the hustle behind.

Our guide shares interesting information about unique flora and fauna, and the areas history of logging and bushrangers.

Tracks are clear with some steps. Steep sections, with a climb to return to the bus.

This exploration trip will take you back in history to the days of the gold rush era.

 

The history of our region is mingled with the native bush, with relics of the past to be observed along the way. A variety of short walks on well formed paths are part of the tour, though participants may choose to spend time relaxing on the riverbank.

 

The day will ensure participants see one/several huts of the High Country; a tunnel dug to assist in the search for gold; native Australian bush landscapes (flora and fauna); a river of the High Country and relics of the gold rush era.
